"The castle of the big tower", that is the literal translation of the name of the castle of Xixona. Or what remains today of the 8-century-old castle.
In the decades after it was built, the castle served to protect various national borders. First that of the kingdom of Aragon and later that place was also the border of the kingdom of Valencia. After the attack by the troops of Archduke Carlos, the castle was almost completely destroyed.
Nowadays you can visit the outside of the castle, on top of the hill. And at the same time you enjoy a beautiful view of Xixona and the surrounding area.
