The Parque de las Naciones (Jardin de las Naciones) is located on the outskirts of the center of Torrevieja between the CV-905, the main N332 coastal road, Calle Villa de Madrid and Ronda Cesar Canovas Girada. It is dedicated to the nations of Europe and has a scale reproduction of the map of the European continent.
The park has an area of 26.000 square meters and is completely fenced. Not exactly small to be a city park. It is therefore not just a city park. In the park itself there is a remarkable pond of 6.000 square meters. The islands in the water have the shape of the map of Europe. In the pond there are a lot of colored carp and there are also a lot of ducks and geese on the water. The vegetation is authentic to that of the Mediterranean Sea. Children can sail with boats on the pond, whether or not accompanied by an adult.
Chickens and peacocks roam freely here and not just on the ground. Also look into the trees once in a while. The chickens are also hiding there. There is also a territory for iguanas, water turtles and a children's playground. Especially after dinner the Spaniards come together here. While the little ones have a great time at the playground, the parents relax on one of the many benches.
And you haven't seen everything yet. The Parque de las Naciones also has an area where petanque is played and a hermitage dedicated to San Emigdo, the co-patron of Torrevieja and patron of earthquakes and other natural phenomena. In the summer months a tourist train even runs through the park.
In short, el Parque de las Naciones is a nice city park where young and old can enjoy themselves and escape the bustle of the city.
