Definitely drop in at the Museo de Micro Miniaturas and be surprised. The Museo de Micro Miniaturas is one of the two extraordinary micro museums that can be found in Guadalest. The first micro museum is El Museo Micro-Gigante, located below in the village on Calle Sol. The second micro museum, el Museo de Micro Miniaturas, is located higher up the mountain within the castle walls. Both museums are closely related to each other because the works in both museums were made by the same artist, Manuel Ussà.
The works of Ussà have a greater success abroad than in their own country. Quite a pity because he has an exceptional talent that has never been seen before. With enormous precision, he makes microsculptures that are invisible to the human eye. Powerful magnifying glasses make it possible to view his artworks. Some examples of his works on display at the Museo de Micro Miniaturas are the statue of liberty in the eye of a needle, an elephant in the eyes of a mosquito, a carousel in a half hazelnut, "Las Meninas" by Velázquez painted on a grain, "La maya Desnuda" by Goya painted on the wing of a fly, the Eifel tower in the eye of a needle and many more sculptures that you think are impossible. The almost invisible sculptures are made with almost invisible working tools also made by Manuel Ussà.
If you don't have time to visit the two museums, choose the Museo Micro-Gigante. This is slightly more extensive than the Museo de Micro Miniaturas.
